Journey of Faith
What a great job Nathan Williams did on Sunday, expounding the story of Jairus' journey of faith with Jesus! He showed us what to expect and how to act when we encounter what appears to be a delay, or something not working out, in our path of life. Listen to the live stream here (preaching begins at 1:00:41).
Nathan mentioned 1 John 4:18 where it says, in effect, that the opposite of faith isn't fear, but rather love. The verse assures us, that "perfect love casts out fear". That is, the antidote to fear is to know (believe!) who loves you.
Reminded me of 2 Timothy 1:7 - “…for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (emphasis added)
Here we see that fear NEVER comes from God, but rather it is a spirit that has its assignment from the enemy - Satan. This means we NEVER have to succumb to it, or let it dictate what we do. It also means we don't play around with it, or tolerate it - in any form.
Again, see the role LOVE plays in the antidote to fear. It's central. From love flows power, when our mind is trained to rely on God's love. God loves me always, yes, but His power only becomes available when I train my mind on His love for me: choosing to believe, and acting accordingly.
So, my choice, my "fight of faith", is to believe in His love, and to operate in every scenario as one who is fully and completely loved by God, who is all-knowing, all-powerful, and ever-present.
How would you act, how would you live life, if you knew you were fully and completely loved by God?
